About
Boise Pottery is owned by Thoren Spearow, Colby Patchin, and Douglas Patchin. The company itself has been in business since 2001, but was just recently purchased by the trio when the original owner decided it was time to retire. Douglas has been an entrepreneur since 1990 with his company Shutter Crafts, which Colby also works for; and Thoren Spearow has owned and operated Dreamland Landscaping since 2005.
When Colby (who had never heard of Boise Pottery) and Thoren (who had been to the store a few times through his landscaping company) went to Boise store in late June to get a few pots for Colby’s house, they were surprised to find that the store was having a going-out-of-business sale. When the owner told them why she was closing, they asked if she was looking to sell the business. After a brief conversation, Colby and Thoren thought it would be a great business to own since it went right along with Thoren’s landscape and maitenance company, but knew that neither of them was prepared to make such a significant purchase.
After setting the issue aside for a couple weeks, they both decided it was a business they would love to own and operate and sat down with Colby’s father Doug, to see if he was interested in investing in the purchase. Five weeks later, the sale was finalized and Boise Pottery changed hands.
